ONE SQUARE MILE
ONE SQUARE MILE

The One Square Mile Project
One Square Mile creates a starting point for discussion and an alternate view of the world around us. The series provides an impetus for learning and an engaging format for students of all ages. In addition to the short films available for viewing on this website, screenings allow educators and organizers to show the series in an extended form. The episodes are available for screening in high definition video. The One Square Mile Project offers a selection of outreach tools including hosted screenings and workshops.
1. Screen the series in HD with the
filmmaker(s) in attendance
One Square Mile is a multidisciplinary project that encompasses: sociology, ethnology, anthropology, geography, communications, documentary production, art and perspective. A filmmaker screening is a great way to span these disciplines in an engaging discussion that can include one or more screenings, talks, and workshops.

“...I am using this as a starting point, have mapped off a grid of campus and am having my students photograph a grid, other colleagues are using the same mapping system as writing and reportage. I am not given to hyperbole, but I think One Square mile is great. I can also see this as a model for local colleges and high schools to add unlimited visions to the framework these filmmakers have created.”
